As the debate about women bishops continues, Affirming Catholicism have been listening hard to the arguments presented inside and outside Synod. Deciding that the debate has lacked clear positive voice from a Catholic perspective, this special edition of their journal, published in 2006, helps to redress the balance.
The papers in this collection were written for, or in consequence of, a symposium organised by Affirming Catholicism and held at St Matthew's Church, Westminster on 11 March 2006. The aim of the symposium was to enunciate a progressive Catholic position in favour of the ordination of women to the episcopate.
Affirming Catholicism is a progressive movement in the Anglican Church, drawing inspiration and hope from the Catholic tradition, confident that it will bear the gifts of the past into the future.
