The Deutz Trio was born out of a remarkable musical chemistry that developed between Paul Edmund-Davies, Roy Carter and John Alley. Principal flautist, oboist and pianist respectively in the London Symphony Orchestra, they have worked together under some of the most renowned conductors in many of the finest concert halls throughout the world. Whilst much of the greatest music to be written is found in the symphonic repertoire, the sensitive musicianship of the members of The Deutz Trio equally lends itself to the quieter mood of prayer.

Having sat next to one another as Principals in the Orchestra for the best part of a decade, Paul and Roy have developed a unique ability to play together with a natural awareness to mould and shape phrases in a totally sympathetic way. This comes over to the listener, not solely as a joining of the musicianship of two individuals, but also as a perfect blend of two very contrasting wind instruments. Their solo recital concerts with John began more than fifteen years ago and the formation of the Trio has been the natural culmination of several years careful preparation.
