Kenneth Leech believes that 'spirituality' is often promoted as a way of avoiding and evading the demands of justice and of struggle for a more equal world. He argues that this split has done very great damage to Christian consciousness and that the recovery of theological wholeness is necessary if we are to avoid these false polarities.
The Eye of the Storm looks at the causes of the split and at the possibilities of a new unity. It examines the link between spirituality and human liberation, the need for a fresh vision in politics, and the unity of contemplation and action. The author draws throughout on his own pastoral and social ministry in the East End of London.
