Product Reviews

"Though it is written largely from an Anglican perspective, the principles outlined are for all Christians wanting to be involved in ministry that is Christ-centered, well planned, and performed with integrity. The subtitle of the book - "A practical handbook" - perfectly describes what it is. Gunstone says it is a "guide for clergy and groups involved in healing services in church. (...) those wishing to begin or renew a prayer ministry in a church will find this sound and practical reading, born of Gunstone's long and fruitful experience." Canon Mann, Precentor of the Cathedral of the Isles, Millport, Scotland, Warden of the College of the Holy Spirit in Scotland. Church Times, 17 February 2006.

"This is an excellent little book written by one who has had much experience in this aspect of Christian ministry. His accumulated practical wisdom shines through on page after page. (...) Thinking of developing a team in your church, or revitalising an older team that has changed composition? This could be a very helpful book to set up such a ministry and be an important one for the team to study to get them going. I thoroughly recommend it." Phillip Tovey, Director Reader Training in the Diocese of Oxford, Praxis News of Worship, Spring 2006.

"The clue to this admirable book on the ministry of healing is in the sub-title - A Practical guide - for this is exactly what it is, a practical guide written by an acknowledged authority. The author has produced a valuable manual in accessible form , not least in language and style. It is a must-read for any Reader engaged or contemplating this form of ministry. (...) I especially recommend the chapter on Confidentiality and boundaries. A must for Readers who have a vocation to the healing ministry." Andrew-Bede Allsop, The Reader, Autumn 2006. Vol 103. No.3.
