Thorn, Fire and Lily covers the period from Ash Wednesday to Easter Day, and continues to give practical proof of the close link between prayer and gardening.

Jane Mossendew explains how gardening illuminates Lenten themes including prayer, fasting and almsgiving. There is a plant for every day of the main Lenten liturgy and Easter Sunday. There are thus forty five entries in all.

There is also a plant for each of the Solemnities and Saints' days that occur between March 10th and April 25th.

For each entry there are cultivation notes, history and lore, meditation ideas, Bible readings, intercessions and places of spiritual retreat.
